FreshBooks Login Routes for Owners, Clients, and Teams

FreshBooks account owners can sign in at my.freshbooks.com with their FreshBooks email and password, while Google and Apple users should select the matching sign-in option. This independent guide is not affiliated with FreshBooks.

Do not assume every FreshBooks screen leads to the same account. A business owner, an invoice client, and someone with access to several businesses can enter through related pages but arrive in very different workspaces.

What FreshBooks Is

FreshBooks is an online accounting and invoicing platform with tools for sending invoices, tracking time, managing receipts and expenses, and accepting supported card payments. Its account and support areas also cover client access, payments, reports, projects, payroll, and business settings.

A search for FreshBooks commonly hides one of several intentions:

  • Entering an owner’s accounting account
  • Opening an invoice as a client
  • Recovering a forgotten password
  • Completing two-factor authentication
  • Finding a missing business after login
  • Checking whether FreshBooks is unavailable

Treat account type as the first diagnostic question. Password recovery comes later.

Which FreshBooks Account Are You Trying to Open?

A FreshBooks business account contains the company’s accounting and invoicing workspace. A client account is a narrower view for someone receiving invoices and related documents from a FreshBooks user.

There is also a third situation: one login may provide access to several FreshBooks businesses. FreshBooks says users with multiple businesses are asked to select a business after entering their credentials.

This produces three different symptoms:

The account opens with accounting tools. You are likely inside a business account.

The account mainly shows received invoices. You are likely inside a client account.

The login succeeds but the expected records are absent. You may have selected another business or used a different account email.

Do not create a replacement account merely because the destination looks unfamiliar. Confirm the account role and selected business first.

How to Use the Main FreshBooks Login

FreshBooks’ official instructions direct users to my.freshbooks.com, where they enter a FreshBooks email and password and select Log in. Users with multiple businesses then choose the business they want to access.

The current authentication system also supports Google and Apple sign-in. FreshBooks’ 2FA documentation confirms that Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google are separate login routes.

Use the method originally linked to the account.

A person who normally chooses Google should not place a Google password into the ordinary FreshBooks password field. Unless a separate FreshBooks password has been established, those are different authentication systems.

Priority one: match the login method. Skip password resets until that is settled.

A private browser window can help when the normal browser keeps reopening another user or another business. It provides a cleaner session without requiring the user to erase all saved browser data.

When the Email and Password Are Rejected

Start by clearing both fields and typing the FreshBooks email manually. Stored credentials can direct the browser toward an older account, particularly on devices used by several businesses or family members.

Then check the account’s original sign-in route:

  • FreshBooks email and password
  • Google
  • Apple
  • An invoice-based client account

The email itself can be misleading. The same address may be associated with an external provider, but that does not mean its Google or Apple password will work as a FreshBooks password.

Try one controlled attempt through the expected route. Avoid rapidly testing several passwords, sending multiple recovery messages, and switching between accounts without noting which method produced each screen.

One experienced-support detail is to inspect the page after it has fully loaded. Password managers sometimes replace the email field a second after the user types, making a correct address appear to have been rejected.

How FreshBooks Password Recovery Works

FreshBooks provides a password-recovery page that asks for the account email. Its current wording tells users to ensure the email is typed correctly before instructions are sent.

Use this sequence:

  1. Enter the likely account email manually.
  2. Submit the request once.
  3. Check the inbox and filtered folders.
  4. Confirm whether a different business email was used.
  5. Reconsider whether the account normally uses Google or Apple.
  6. Escalate through FreshBooks support when the account still cannot be matched.

A recovery request is appropriate when the account truly uses a FreshBooks password. It is less useful when the actual problem is a lost Google login, an unavailable Apple account, an incorrect business selection, or two-factor authentication.

Use the newest recovery message when several have been requested. Avoid forwarding the message or sharing its link.

Short rule: keep recovery private.

Google or Apple Login Needs a Different Fix

FreshBooks’ current account-profile documentation says users who signed up through Apple or Google may need to disconnect that provider when changing the email or setting a FreshBooks password. The page provides steps for managing those account connections.

This differs from older instructions that may appear in third-party guides. Current official documentation should control because the account flow can change as FreshBooks updates its authentication system.

Before modifying a provider connection:

  • Confirm that the account opens through Google or Apple
  • Review the current FreshBooks account-profile instructions
  • Ensure another supported sign-in route will remain available
  • Test any newly created FreshBooks credentials
  • Disconnect only when the change is actually necessary

Do not disconnect a working login as a casual troubleshooting experiment. That action changes the account relationship rather than merely testing the browser.

FreshBooks published additional 2FA-related information in late 2025 and maintains a 2026 product-update page, which is another reason old login tutorials may no longer match the current process.

Two-Factor Authentication Is a Separate Stage

FreshBooks requires two-factor authentication for accounts that log in using an email and password. Logins through Apple and Google do not require FreshBooks’ separate two-factor step.

This gives the user a clear mistake map:

The password is rejected before any code appears. Check the email, password, and login route.

The password is accepted and a code screen appears. The immediate issue is 2FA, not the password.

Google or Apple fails before FreshBooks opens. The failure involves the external-provider route or its connection to FreshBooks.

FreshBooks describes 2FA as required protection for email-and-password accounts. Its instructions should be used rather than generic third-party pages that guess at menu labels such as “Security” or “Login & Security.”

When access to the registered authentication method is lost, use FreshBooks’ support route. Do not send an authentication code to anyone offering to “verify” the account.

Client Login Starts From the Invoice

FreshBooks client accounts are built for people receiving invoices. The official client instructions begin with an invoice received by email and the link showing other outstanding invoices.

FreshBooks then presents one of two paths:

  • Existing clients enter their password and select Log In
  • New clients add a password and select Get Started

Inside the client account, Pay Outstanding Invoices may appear above the invoice list.

That route is easy to confuse with the owner login. A client may search for FreshBooks, reach the general authentication page, and expect the received invoice to appear automatically.

Use the original invoice message first. Confirm that the sender is recognized and that the link leads to a FreshBooks-controlled page.

A client account does not grant access to the sender’s expense records, reports, or business settings. It provides the recipient’s document view.

The Login Works but the Business Is Missing

A successful login followed by an empty or unexpected workspace should be treated as an account-association problem.

Check these items in order:

Selected business: FreshBooks explicitly states that users with multiple businesses may need to choose one after login.

Account email: Another work or personal email may be attached to the expected business.

Authentication route: The business may be linked to Google or Apple rather than the FreshBooks password route just used.

Account role: An invoice client may have entered a client account rather than an owner workspace.

Report the symptom accurately when contacting support: “Login succeeds, but the expected business is not listed.” That wording distinguishes the problem from a forgotten password.

Do not recreate invoices or clients inside a blank account first. Skip that work until the original business association has been checked.

Is FreshBooks Down or Is It Just Your Account?

FreshBooks operates an official status page with real-time and historical system-performance information. Its support center directs users there when availability may have changed because of unexpected circumstances.

Check the status page before altering credentials or account connections.

An active incident suggests a platform-level problem. A normal status page makes a broad interruption less likely, although it does not rule out an individual account, browser, network, or provider issue.

When no incident is reported, test:

  • A private browser window
  • Manual email entry
  • The original Google or Apple route
  • Another current browser
  • The correct business selection
  • Web access when the mobile app fails

FreshBooks’ iOS documentation says forgotten passwords must be reset through a web browser rather than directly in the app. It also provides in-app controls for changing an email or password when the user is already signed in.

Web first. Reinstallation comes later.

Contacting FreshBooks Account Support

The FreshBooks Help Center has a dedicated Account section covering login, account profiles, 2FA, business management, verification, data export, and support contact information. It currently lists the toll-free number 1-888-674-3175.

Use support when:

  • The account email cannot be identified
  • Login reaches 2FA but the registered method is unavailable
  • The expected business is missing after successful authentication
  • A Google or Apple connection needs to be changed
  • The password-recovery route does not restore access
  • A client account does not show the expected invoices

Describe what appears on the screen and where the process stops. Do not include passwords, authentication codes, card information, or other confidential account data.

Account verification should occur only through the process FreshBooks provides.

FreshBooks Login FAQ

What is the correct FreshBooks login address?

FreshBooks directs account holders to my.freshbooks.com.

Can FreshBooks users sign in with Google?

Yes. Google is a supported sign-in route.

Is Apple sign-in available?

Yes.

Why am I asked for two-factor authentication?

FreshBooks requires 2FA when an account uses email-and-password login. FreshBooks’ own 2FA is not required for Google or Apple sign-in, because those routes use their respective authentication systems.

Why did I enter FreshBooks but find no invoices?

How does a client create FreshBooks access?

The client opens an invoice received by email, follows the outstanding-invoices link, adds a password, and selects Get Started. Existing clients select Log In instead.

Can I reset my password in the iPhone app?

FreshBooks says forgotten passwords should be reset through a web browser.

Where can I check an outage?

Use the official FreshBooks status page, which publishes current and historical performance information.
